November 2017 Hashtag Giveaway

$
0
0

2017-NOV---SOME.jpg

Brickmania is running another hashtag social media giveaway event for the entire month! We often receive questions about how it works, and have decided to make a FAQ to answer general questions.

How do I enter the giveaway?

  • On Facebook, share one of our posts to your timeline and insert the hashtag #

#greatwarbricks into the post. Alternatively, make a post on your timeline/wall with the hashtag #greatwarbricks. Note: Unless your Facebook account is set to public, we cannot see a private post on your wall. Additionally, using the hashtag as a comment in one of our posts, does not count. Continued spamming of the hashtag in the same post can disqualify you.

  • On Twitter, tweet using the hashtag #greatwarbricks. Alternatively, retweet one of our posts and use the hashtag#redoctoberbricks in your share.
  • On Instagram, make a new image or take a picture and use the hashtag #greatwarbricks. Note, unless your profile/image is public, the post cannot be seen by anyone but you. Keep in mind that spamming/using the hashtag as a comment on one of our images not only does not qualify for an entry, but repeated use can result in disqualification.

Can I enter more than once?

  • Yes, you can enter as many times as you like! It can raise the chance of becoming that week’s winner significantly.

Why does commenting on posts not count?

  • Something that we have learned from past events is that people often comment on our own posts through Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag. This does not count, and repeated use will result in complete disqualification.
  • The purpose of running a hashtag giveaway is to share our content to new people; commenting on Brickmania posts does not share our brand, products, name, etc

What do I get if I win? How will I know if I won?

  • Each week, Brickmania staff will compile a list of everyone who has entered to that point in the month (it is retroactive, so if you entered on January 3rd, later in the month, it will still count)
  • A winner will be selected for each week randomly from one of the three social media networks we are doing the giveaway on. The winner will be contacted through that platform’s Direct Messaging system (it is important that if you want to enter, make sure you have a way to directly communicate with us)
  • When the winner is selected, they will receive a gift or gifts (these can be kits, figures, BrickArms, etc)
  • Brickmania staff picks the gifts that are given out; this is not up for debate. If you enter looking for something specific and are upset after winning your gift, we have the right to send your gift off to someone else or donate it to charity
  • Upon selecting a winner, Brickmania staff will produce one post per social media platform announcing the winner to the world through Facebook and Twitter!

Why do we run this monthly event?

  • Brickmania runs these giveaways as a way to connect the community and get involved with our fans
  • We do this out of kindness and fun! All we ask is you share our hashtag around and you instantly get entered into the giveaway and have a fair chance at winning!

*These rules can be changed at any time, and Brickmania reserves the right to change and tweak things if needed

414-Rolls-Royce Armored Car-Action-Webcard-710.jpg

About the Rolls-Royce Armored Car:

The outbreak of the Great War (World War I) in Europe saw the use of new technologies on the battlefield – machine guns, barbed wire, and aircraft. Among these new technologies was the Rolls Royce Armored Car. Beginning with the “Silver Ghost” open-top model, the Rolls Royce Armored Car went through several improvements including a fully covered top and commander cupola.

It was soon discovered that the Rolls Royce was not well-suited for the muddy and uneven terrain of the Western Front. Many were deployed to the Eastern Front and used against Turkish forces by T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), who is quoted as saying that his squadron of armored cars were “worth more than rubies”.  These vehicles allowed Lawrence to disrupt Turkish supply lines and conduct hit-and-run operations against the Turkish military. These tactics were later noted by other desert commanders such as Field Marshal Erwin Rommel.

Restock: Marder III Ausf M

2156-Action-Webcard-710

About the Marder III Ausf M:

Marder III was the name for a series of WWII German tank destroyers. The III series had a more refined purpose-driven look with a stable chassis, mounting four road wheels to a side. They were mounted with either a Soviet 76mm F-22 Model 1936 divisional field gun, or a German 7.5cm PaK 40, on top of the Panzer 38(t) chassis. The Marder III offered little protection to the crew, but added significant firepower compared to contemporary German tanks. Production of the Marder III ran from 1942 to 1944 and served on all fronts until the end of the war.

This Marder III variant was based on the Geschützwagen 38(t) Ausf. M, a vehicle for self-propelled gun use. The Ausf. M offered significant improvements over previous models with its lower silhouette, sloped armor and much more functional fighting compartment. It was adequate in the ambush role, fixed defensive role or calibrated offensive artillery role from a distance. The fighting compartment could be lowered down to the bottom of the floor level, which decreased crew exposure, as well as visibility. Combat effectiveness was increased since the vehicle commander was freed from manning the gun.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 23,523 lbs
  • Crew: 4
  • Armor: 10-50 mm
  • Main armament: 7.62 cm PaK 36(r) or 7.5 cm PaK 40
  • Secondary Armament: 7.92 mm MG 37(t), MG 34 or MG 42
  • Engine: Praga Typ TNHPS/II water-cooled, 6-cylinder gasoline
  • Suspension: Leaf spring
  • Operational range: 190-210 km
  • Speed: 35-42 km/h

Additional information about this Brickmania custom building kit:

The Marder III Ausf M kit comes with the following features:

  • Posable main gun with a realistic degree of elevation and traverse
  • Fully articulated Brickmania Track Links™

About the Mercury Control Center:

When NASA sends astronauts into space, an incredible team of people are required to make the mission a success. The image of the NASA mission control center is iconic, featured in several films and documentaries on the space program. The Mercury Control Center was built at Cape Canaveral between 1956-58.

The Mercury Program was first located at Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

Langley served several purposes. Aside from being the first home of Project Mercury, it trained the first seven original astronauts and was where they designed and tested the Mercury space capsule. Langley was also responsible for construction of a world-wide communications and tracking network that was used for several decades of space exploration.

The Mercury Control Center became the standard for future mission control centers – a large room with maps and screens occupied by an army of scientists, engineers, and other trained professionals. This model was the foundation for the future of NASA and the American space program. Although the Mercury Control Center at Cape Canaveral was demolished in 2010, its legacy continues to influence space exploration into the modern day.

About the Friendship 7 (With John Glenn & Mercury-Atlas 6 rocket):

Throughout history, human beings have been motivated to explore the unknown. Although fairly new, space exploration has made incredible discoveries in a short period of time. When the United States began its space program, little was known about this “final frontier”. After the Soviet Union put the first human being into full orbit, the United States sought to do the same. Although Alan Shepard had completed a suborbital run in 1961, NASA planned to make John Glenn Jr. the first American to complete the same feat the Soviets had achieved with Yuri Gagarin in April 1961.

Glenn would embark on his mission via the Mercury program. He would be piloting a capsule known as Friendship 7, which would be launched using the Mercury-Atlas 6 rocket. The mission had several objectives – (1) to put a man into orbit, (2) to observe his reactions to space environment, and (3) to safety return to Earth and be readily located. On February 20, 1962, Glenn would successfully complete this mission and provide a wealth of data regarding the effect of weightlessness on the human body.

Statistics:

  • Completed orbits: 3
  • Distance: 75,679 miles (121,793 km)
  • Velocity: 17,544 mph (28,234 km/h)
  • Total time in weightlessness: 4 hours, 48 minutes

407-MLE-Action-Webcard-710

The French 75mm Field Gun (“Matériel de 75mm Mle 1897”) is considered to be the first modern artillery piece. Adopted by the French Army in 1897, it was the first gun to be equipped with a hydro-pneumatic recoil system. This system allowed crews to continue firing without having to correct the aim. A well-trained 75mm crew could fire at the rate of thirty rounds per minute. Originally designed to deliver shrapnel rounds against large infantry formations, the battle conditions of World War I saw the adaptation of high explosive and chemical warheads. In addition to being the main artillery piece of the French Army, more than 2000 were supplied to the American Expeditionary Force during World War I. This gun would continue to be used through the Second World War.

Additional information about this Brickmania custom Lego® kit:

The 75mm Mle 1897 has the following features
